Grades are calculated in the following way:

World History Advanced Placement (WHAP): 

Grading:


  • Unit tests 25%

  • Quizzes/Significant in class activities 25%

  • Essays/DBQ’s 25%

  • Projects 25%


World Studies and Topics in World Studies: 

  • Unit tests: 25%
  • Quizzes: 20%
  • Significant in class activities: 25%
  • Projects: 25%
  • Homework:  5%

Work will be graded with the following requirements in mind: 

  • A work (100 – 90) is work that exceeds expectations in all areas of the assignment, shows critical thinking  and effort.
  • B work (89-80) is work that meets the expectations in all areas of the assignment, shows critical thinking  and effort
  • C work (79-70) is work that meets basic expectations but shows a lack of critical thought, and / or effort
  • D work (69-60) is work that fails to meet expectations and shows a lack of critical thought and/ or effort
  • F work (below 60) is work that fails to meet expectations, is incomplete, shows little to no effort.

Final Grade Calculation:

Each quarter is given a weight of 20%. The midterm and final exams are each weighted 10%. Therefore the year is broken down as follows:

  • Quarter 1: 20%
  • Quarter 2: 20%
  • Midterm: 10%
  • Quarter 3: 20%
  • Quarter 4: 20%
  • Final: 10%

                   =  Final Grade Total = 100%
